Jenny L. Kolenda

Jenny L. Kolenda, age 49, of Ruther Glen, Virginia passed from this life, into Eternal Life in Heaven on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg.

She was born on September 11, 1973 in Iron River, MI, the daughter of Lauri and Lois (née Weslin) Osterlund.

Jenny attended the West Iron County schools, graduating with the Class of 1991. She then went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design at Ferris State University, graduating in 1995.

Jenny married Barak Kolenda on August 17, 1996 in Iron River. The couple celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary in 2022.

Jenn was self-employed as a Graphic Designer. She loved design, decorating, crafts, art, and anything that involved being creative; Jenn loved discussing and inspiring creativity in others. She adored her three children; they were the center of her universe. Jenn was fully involved with both her daughters’ English Riding competitions (VHSA & BHSA). And she loved all time spent with her family; her family's annual Beach Week to the Outer Banks of North Carolina was among her favorites.

Jenny is survived by her husband, Barak; daughters Olivia and Reagan; son Barak II; parents Lauri and Lois Osterlund; brothers Lauri Osterlund (Nikki) of Iron River, MI and Raymond Osterlund (Heather) of Green Bay, WI; sister Angela Pepin (Michael) of Pine Springs, MN; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 5, 2022 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A service will follow at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at the funeral home chapel with Pastor Dale Donadio of River of Life Church officiating. Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery, Iron River, Michigan in spring 2023.
