Jorlynn Brianna Payne (Thompson), age 25, born December 12, 1994 in Chanute, Kansas and went to be with the Lord on May 3, 2020 in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Jorlynn was a loving daughter and wife, a best friend and animal advocate. Her strong will and determination was admired beyond measure by those that knew her. She was a thoughtful and outgoing person with a great sense of humor and a knack for making friends with strangers and her kind heart came through in each hug she gave. She was always there to help anyone who needed her. Her smile and laugh lit up every room she entered. She was a positive light of energy that touched many people’s lives with love, compassion and empathy.

Her hobbies included writing poetry, drawing, reading, cooking, photo shoots, video games, hiking, nature trails and exploring.

Jorlynn attended Riverbend Highschool, Fredericksburg, Virginia. She worked as a barista for several years at Starbucks in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

She married her husband, Matt, in 2015 and began the life as a Marine Corp wife living in Twentynine Palms, CA. Later she and her husband returned to Fredericksburg, VA.

She is survived by her husband, Matthew Payne of Fredericksburg, VA; parents, James Thompson and Jamie Lassinger (Champ) of Chanute, KS; great grandmother June Buckles (Hibbs) of Junction City, KS; grandparents, Jesse Thompson Sr. of Florence, CO,  Gracie Smith (Ethridge) of Altoona, KS, and Bradley Champ of Junction City, KS; siblings, Amanda Thompson of Moyock, NC, Gabriella Thompson of Chanute, KS, Carys Thompson of Chanute, KS and Asher Robillard of Chanute, KS; uncles, Justin Schmidt of Oak Grove, MO with wife Stephanie, Jesse Thompson Jr. of Altoona, KS with wife Crystal, Jon Thompson of Cheyenne, WY and Adam Thompson of Canon City, CO; aunts, Natasha Reed (Thompson) of Chanute, KS with husband Herbert, Heather Thompson of Canon City, CO and other family members and friends who mourn her passing deeply. She is preceded in death by her great-grandfather, Earl Neely of Garden Plain, KS, step great-grandfather Carlos Buckles of Junction City, KS; grandparents, Emil and Verda Champ (Berry) of Junction City, KS; step-grandfather, Richard Smith of Chanute, KS. and stepfather, Robert Lassinger of Fredericksburg, VA. 

A memorial will be planned at a later date.
