Julie Ann Bowen

It is with great sorrow that we announce Julie Ann Bowen, 48, of Woodford Virginia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on April 18, 2022 surrounded by her family. Julie fought a courageous battle but ultimately succumbed to ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). 

Julie was born on January 20, 1974 in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Growing up on Shenandoah Lane in Stafford County, Julie loved playing in the woods and by the creek running through her parent’s property, with her brother and neighborhood kids. 

Julie graduated from North Stafford High School in 1992, and from Radford University with a Bachelor’s Degree in 1996. Julie worked at the Close Up Foundation in Washington DC, The United Way, Good Life T.V. Network as a producer’s assistant and at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center. Julie’s real love was enjoying the outdoors and photography. Julie helped take care of her grandmother until her passing in 2009 and her grandfather until his passing in 2014.

Julie leaves her mother, Ann Lengs (Bob) of Spotsylvania County; brother Michael Bowen of Denham Springs LA; stepsisters Rachael Prince of Hampton and Bridgett Norris (Chris) of Virginia Beach.

Julie was preceded in death by her father, Donald W. Bowen (2001); grandmother Charlotte Prysock (2009); and grandfather Charles “Chuck” Prysock (2014). 

A celebration of Julie’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 13, 2022 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the ALS Association.
