Karen Elaine Medley

Karen Elaine Medley, 69, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg surrounded by family. 

Karen was loved not only by her family, but by countless friends and coworkers, too. She was nurturing and loving to everyone she met; sharing cakes, cookies, and meals whenever she had the chance. Karen had a personality all her own and she will be missed dearly by everyone she knew.  Karen was the first woman hired at the General Motors factory in Fredericksburg and she worked there until the doors finally closed for good. Karen was proud of her career and of her large family whom she loved dearly.

Karen is survived by her husband of 50 years, Steve Medley, Sr.; son Steve Medley, Jr.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; sisters Doris Hilldrup, Janie Dean, and Marie Fuch; brothers Earl Conley, George Conley, and Clee Conley; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 16 at the funeral home chapel with Reverend Paul R. Harfst officiating. Karen will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Karen’s memory to the Fredericksburg SPCA.
