Kathleen Ryan Steele

Kathleen Ryan Steele, 74, of Fredericksburg, VA passed away on June 4, 2022 at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center.

Originally from Moriah Center, NY, she was a graduate of William Smith College with a master’s degree in mathematics from George Washington University. After teaching high school math, she spent the majority of her career serving our country in the federal government; retiring from the Department of Homeland Security in 2016 after 42 years of service. Kathy was a devoted member of Peace United Methodist Church, serving in many supportive capacities for the spiritual growth of its membership since 1990. Kathy was an incredible wife and loving mother who looked for and unlocked the best in everyone. 

She is survived by her husband Michael Steele; two sons Eric Myerson (Bess Wilton) and Ryan Steele (Nadia Baksh); and countless others whose lives she touched in her own special way.

 
She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas Patrick Ryan and Margaret Chea Ovensen; stepfather Edwin Ovensen; and sister Judy Ryan Milks.

A celebration of life will be held at Peace United Methodist Church in Fredericksburg on Saturday, June 25th at 2pm.
