Kelley Matthew Fraber

Kelley Matthew, 19 years of age and beloved son of Kraig Smith and Kelly Fraber passed peacefully in the arms of his devoted parents Thursday November 18, 2021 at UVA Medical Center Charlottesville Virginia.  Kelley fought against his many disabilities throughout a wonderful life being supported and cared for by family, friends and very special home nurses.

His companion dogs Emmett and Kaper accompanied him on countless outings to rivers, parks and just about anywhere he could get his toes wet.  He loved fireworks, Christmas light shows, bird songs and Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream.  Outdoor activities where he could have the sun on his face were treasured moments.  He loved floating in a swimming pool where he became weightless in his mother’s arms.  He even got to ride horses for therapy which always put a smile on his face.  Kelley had a special bond with his sister. They would playfully fuss at each other and he would always be very vocal trying to let her know who was boss. Kelley was able to participate in organized fun runs where his big sister Kayleigh and his mom would push him in the race.  He had a laugh that melted everyone’s heart and teeth that sought out caregivers fingers who weren’t paying attention.  Kelley endured years of rigorous physical therapy strengthening his body which enabled him to thrive and grow.  He was a fighter and had a brilliant and joyful presence.  Most importantly he was Mom and Dad’s Buddy Boy.

Kelley is survived by his parents Kraig Smith and Kelly Fraber.  Sister Corporal Kayleigh Fraber U.S. Army.  Grandparents Sherrill & Judy Smith and David & Charlotte Fraber.  Aunts Michelle Pater and Angela Wyatt and many Great Aunts, Great Uncles and cousins.
