July 29, 1979 ~ October 11, 2023 (age 44) 44 Years Old

Tribute

Laura Anne Pinkerton, 44, of Fredericksburg, VA passed away suddenly on Wednesday, October 11, 2023.
Living life fully was Laura’s greatest desire. To know her was to love her and be loved by her. Laura had a love of golf from an early age, playing with her dad, continuing to play at the College of William & Mary, coaching at the high school level, and recently teaching her nephew the game. She devoted her entire career to the children she coached, taught, and inspired. She began as a swim coach during her college days in Williamsburg and continued in the Fredericksburg area with the RAYS, Fredericksburg Country Club, and James Monroe High School swim teams. Laura was a large member of the swimming community, and inspired her nieces and nephew to participate in the sport.

Upon graduation, she began her career in public education. Laura returned to her childhood schools as a teacher for the City of Fredericksburg teaching at elementary, middle, and high school. She continued her higher education through University of Mary Washington and became an Administrator in Spotsylvania County and Stafford County Public Schools, most recently at the Phoenix Center. Laura’s dedication and advocacy for students was evident each day as she worked hard to put smiles on students’ faces.

Laura was an active member of Delta Gamma sorority at the College of William & Mary and her alumnae chapter here in the Fredericksburg area. She was a member of multiple book clubs, as she was an avid reader and collector of books. Laura spent her holidays traveling all over the world. She was always ready for an adventure.

Laura deeply loved her time with her family and friends. She brightened everyone’s lives. She spent most days with her mother, Mary Pinkerton, Jill Roberson (sister) and her husband James Roberson as well as her nieces, Emma Grace and Margaret Anne Roberson and nephew Sutton James Roberson all of Fredericksburg, VA. She is also survived by numerous beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and her faithful companion Shadow.

Laura was preceded in death by her father James E. Pinkerton and her grandparents John and Mary Bulger & James Sr. and Margaret Pinkerton.

Laura’s love of life was so infectious. The memories of the intentional time she shared with all those in her life will provide sunshine in the days to come, as she would have wanted for us all.

A service will be held at 3pm on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends following the service at Covenant.

The family requests that all attendees wear bright colorful clothing in Laura's honor.
