Lavonda Yvette Gray, 58, wife of Garry L. Gray Sr., entered into eternal rest on October 10, 2020.
Lavonda was born on March 8, 1962 in Hampton, VA to the late Robert Weatherford and Barbara Lewis. She graduated from the Brien McMahon High School and attended Norwalk Community College in Norwalk, CT. Lavonda worked as a Manager at Wendy’s, a Youth Coordinator at Young Mothers Program and received her certificate as a Nurse’s Aide through a nursing home in Norwalk, CT. She was employed at Stamford Postal Service for six years as an LSM Operator and Flat Sorter Operator until her health began to fail. Lavonda accepted Christ while attending Grace Baptist Church in Norwalk, CT. She relocated to Woodbridge, VA and joined Greater Harvest Ministries as she work towards a closer walk with the Lord. Lavonda also worshiped with Dunamis Power Ministries and formerly the Church of the Redeemed International Ministries. Lavonda always had a loving and caring heart and never closed her doors to anyone. She never met a stranger because she loved everyone she met.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving and caring husband of 37 years, Garry L. Gray, Sr.; her children, Jermaine Gray (Keyry), Garry Gray, Jr. (Shanel), Shana Gray-Hilliard (George), and Brian Gray (Tonette) of Fredericksburg, VA; grandchildren Harmoni Wilson, Kiara Briones, Destini Gray, Triniti Gray, Zion Gray, Divinity Gray, Zoe Gray, Serenity Hilliard, Nehemiah Hilliard; three sisters Deborah Jenkins (Gerald) of Chester, VA, Monique Whitley (Tyrone) of Virginia Beach, VA, and Charlotte Mason (Ralph) of Michigan; three brothers Phillip Lewis (Melissa) and Eric Lewis (Michelle) of Connecticut, and George Bradley of Norwalk, CT; two Goddaughters Ntya Robinson and Keasiah Hayes-Medina; four sister-in-laws Evelyn Lee, Cynthia Willingham, Leah Washington (Willie) and Michelle Beard all of Hampton, VA, and Willie Gray of Baltimore, MD; one brother-in-law James Gray (Willie) of Baltimore, MD and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, October 16 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A celebration service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 17 at Zion Church of Fredericksburg. Interment will be held at noon on Monday, October 19 in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
