Lucien C. Fievet, Jr., 85, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on July 22, 2022.
Lucien was born on July 16, 1937, in Birmingham, Alabama and served as a US Marine from 1955 to 1961. A proud member of Phi Sigma Kappa, he graduated from the University of Alabama in 1962. Despite their college rivalries, Lucien realized that there was a woman he adored from Auburn University; Joan and Lucien married on September 1, 1962. After a successful 30-year career with US Steel in Pittsburgh, Lucien retired and moved to Fredericksburg Virginia, where he and Joan enjoyed many years experiencing life together.
Stern yet respectful, smart yet humble, tough yet loving; Lucien was all those things and more. A husband, a father, a brother, a son, a marine, a cancer survivor, an Alabama and Pittsburgh fan, the best scrambled egg maker, and an endless encyclopedia of history. 85 years well lived with lots of family, friends, and memories that we will cherish for the rest of our lives.
Lucien is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan; brother, Frank (Birmingham, AL); his loving children, Lucien C. “Chuck” Fievet III (Pittsburgh, PA), Michael E. Fievet (Richmond, VA), Katherine Cavanaugh (Fredericksburg, VA), and James Fievet (Fredericksburg, VA), and their spouses, Lynn Fievet, Sarah Fievet, Ronald Cavanaugh, and Christina Fievet. In addition to his children, he is survived by 10 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday, August 1, 2022 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A service will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at the Covenant Funeral Service chapel. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to St. Jude Catholic Church Building Fund, at 9600 Caritas St., Fredericksburg, VA 22408, (540) 891-7350 or at FaithDirect.net for online giving.
