Margaret Lou “Marge” Pulliam

Margaret Lou “Marge” Pulliam, 83, of Fredericksburg peacefully passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 with both of her daughters by her side. She was born in Northfork, West Virginia on September 23, 1938 daughter of a coal miner, William Henry Flippen and Annie Elizabeth Blazen were her loving parents.

She was married to the late Derl Pulliam on September 9, 1967 and they lived together in Tappahannock for 17 years before relocating to Fredericksburg.

Marge’s career was in the banking industry, starting out as a bank teller and retiring as a Vice President. She loved her church and Sunday school, her activities with her friends, dancing, music at the Eagles Club, and was a huge Elvis fan. 

Survivors include her three children, Patricia Velez (Carlos) and Julia Hudson (Scott); step-son Derl Pulliam, Jr. (Debbie); seven grandchildren Rebecca McCall, Ryan Velez, Margaret Fitzwater, Jacquelyn Henion, Michelle Hartman, Derl Pulliam III, and Michael Pulliam; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters; and two brothers. She was a very proud mother, grandmother, always acknowledging their accomplishments.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Salem Baptist Church, 4044 Plank Road Fredericksburg, VA 22408. There will be a reception at the church following the service. Interment will be held privately in Craig’s Baptist Church Cemetery.
