Marlene S. Sale

August 8, 1932 ~ January 13, 2024 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Tribute

Marlene S. Sale, 91, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 13, 2024, surrounded by her family, whom she loved dearly. She was born on August 8, 1932. Marlene was married to the late Charles (whom she lovingly referred to as “Cha”) Wissner Sale for 58 years.

Marlene was a longtime member of Falmouth Baptist Church where she sang in the choir for many years. She was an inspiration to so many with her faith that could move mountains.

Marlene retired from First Virginia Bank after 25 years. She was a devout Christian who focused her whole life on following the Lord and she led her family to do the same. You would often hear her refer you to the bible if you were going through something and asked her for advice. She read her bible and prayed faithfully multiple times a day. If Marlene told you she was praying for you, you were prayed for by name. Her love of all people, especially her family, was a true testament to her Christ like nature.

Marlene is survived by her daughter, Penny Sale Pierce of Falmouth; granddaughter Courtney Sale Harris (Skip) of Stafford; grandsons Chad Sale (Amanda) of Spotsylvania, Landon Pierce (Victoria) of King George, and Justin Pierce of Falmouth; daughter-in-law Charlotte Embrey (Tom) of Spotsylvania; sister Carol Shelton (Michael) of Stafford; four great-grandchildren, Caroline Harris, Charlotte Harris, Hailey Sale, and Emma Sale; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom she loved dearly.

She was reunited in Heaven with her husband, Charles W. Sale; son Barry W. Sale; and great-grandson, Carter W. Harris.

A funeral will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Falmouth Baptist Church with Dr. Leslie Powers officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in Falmouth Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve Berry, Gary Cooper, Scott Campbell, Bart Stevenson, Rick Pierce, and Gary Wilkerson.

Memorials can be made to The Fairy Godmother Project (600 Lafayette Boulevard, Suite 101, Fredericksburg, VA 22401) in memory of Marlene’s great-grandson, Carter W. Harris.
