Martha Meier Taylor, 81, of Fredericksburg passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Mary Washington Hospice with her husband at her side. She was born on April 14, 1941 in Stockelsberg, Germany to the late Barbara Schwenzl and Johann Meier and later became a naturalized United States citizen.
Martha was an Army Wife for over 30 Years. She volunteered as a Department of Defense Elementary School Aid and served as an Army Thrift Shop Manager. She also worked as a Premier Ladies Garment Sales associate for over five years with Sassafras at Potomac Mills Mall.
Martha was an Army Community Service Volunteer and volunteered for the American Red Cross. She was an Officer’s Wives Club member, a member of American Legion Auxiliary, Virginia Department, Unit 364, and was a member of Montclair Tabernacle Church of God while in Virginia and Southeastern Christian Church while residing in Kentucky.
Survivors include her husband just short of 50 years, U.S. Army LTC (Ret.) Larry L. Taylor; children Johnny Taylor (Janice) of Millersville, Maryland, Ruby Taylor of Fredericksburg, and Brian Taylor of Stafford; grandchildren Jackie Kruszewski (Jason), James Taylor (Andrea), Hannah Taylor, and Olivia Taylor and their mother, Melody Taylor; great-granddaughter Seinna Marie Taylor; and sister Hilda Fruth (Albert). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Franz Meier and Hans Meier; sisters Mari Schwab and Resi Plank; and first husband Johnny Caddell.
A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Covenant Funeral Service, Stafford. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home chapel. Private interment in Quantico National Cemetery.
