Mary Hicks Lanham

Mary Hicks Lanham, 95, of Loudon County passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 30, 2022 at Hughes Home in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Mary, along with her late husband, Robert Andrew Lanham, owned a service station in Aldie, Virginia for over 18 years. After leaving the service station, Mary became a collectible/antique dealer with a shop in Aldie and Lenah for several years before moving to Mineral, Virginia. At the age of 50, Mary went back to school to get her High School Diploma.

Survivors include her children, Victoria Elizabeth Fox, Deborah Ann McGrew, and Vanessa Lee Evans; grandchildren Kanada St.Marie Sorenson, Kevin McGrew, Brian Christopher Fox, and Melissa Ashley McMurrer; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Virgie Hicks, Nettie Winston, Sarah Chislom, Betty Hicks, Pearl Johnson, Sadie Hicks, Mamie Howell, and Arthur Hicks.

Mary loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved being called “Mama” by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and aides at Hughes Home in Fredericksburg, Virginia and Mary Washington Hospice.
