Michael Allen Maple

Michael Allen “Mike” Maple, 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 14, 2022 in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Mike was born on October 22, 1941 in Richmond, Indiana and was a 1960 graduate of Huntington High School in Huntington, West Virginia. Following high school, Mike served four years in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965. Following his service to our country, he attended Marshall University where he earned his Bachelors of Art degree in 1969 and then his Masters of Art degree in Guidance and Counseling in 1974. In 1969, Mike began working at Graham Park Middle School in Prince William County, Virginia, where he continued to work as the Guidance Director for the next 31 years, counseling and coaching sports until he retired in 2000.

For all his friends and family, you will laugh remembering his comedic performances, you will smile thinking about his smile, and you will most remember his ability to find his way into your hearts. Outside of just being an amazing man, his passion (other than his wife Linda) was swinging a golf club, watching a plethora of sports, and kicking his feet up to a good “chick flick”.

Mike is survived by his beautiful wife of 52 years, Linda Maple; son Robert “Begie” Maple (Laura); daughter Michelle “Miki” Jones (Michael); and grandchildren Gavin, Will, and Abby.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Gene Maple.

A great son, husband, dad, poppop, and friend; he will be truly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at the All Saints Hall (Ash) on the Christ Episcopal Church campus. The family would love to see you anytime between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. where food and refreshments will be served while we gather to share some of our favorite memories, our stories, to laugh, to cry and to remember a wonderful person who will be greatly missed.
