Mildred Brooks Ray, 87, of Spotsylvania passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2019.
Mrs. Ray was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to garden, go on trips and shop with her daughter and granddaughters. Mrs. Ray was a Program Support Technician at Mary Washington College for 41 years.
Survivors include her sons, Donald Doggett (Joanne) and Ronald Doggett (Giannia); daughter Carolyn D. Coleman (Dickie); grandchildren Beth Coleman, Sarah Sutter, Crystal Mitchell, Donna Doggett, Robert Doggett and James Doggett; great-grandchildren Braeden Coleman, Tyler Griffin, Lauren Griffin, Xaviar Mitchell, Xander Mitchell, Jaylenn Doggett, Bruce Smith, Alexis Doggett, Hunter Doggett, Jamie Doggett, Nathan Hoskins, and Bailey Doggett; brothers Jasper Brooks and Roy Lee Brooks; and sisters Agnes Oakey, Lillian Self, Alma Henderson and Joyce Newton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Quinton C. Ray; her parents, Marcus and Edith Brooks; grandson Ronnie Doggett; and brothers Franklin Brooks and Melvin Brooks.
The family would like to give a special thank you to her caregivers, Donna Doggett, Brittany Doggett, Alexis Doggett and Angel Ride; to her good and caring friend, Rajendra Kulkarni; to Spotsylvania E.M.S. and the doctors and nurses at Mary Washington Hospital.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, January 20 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 21 at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
