Tribute

Mildred “Mimi” Vivaldi Sanchez, 80, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, February 17, 2019.

Mimi was a faithful and loving wife, mother and loyal friend. She was born in New York City, N.Y. to the late Jose Maria Vivaldi and Lydia Vivaldi (nee Fraticelli). Mimi was a graduate of Ladycliffe Academy in Highland Falls, N.Y. and Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg.

Mimi enjoyed knitting, crocheting, music, traveling and playing cards. One of her favorite games, May-I, summed up who she was as a person: loving, kind, and one who considered others first. Yet, she often surprised many with her quick humor and amazing memory. She inherited a love of math from her father, and worked as a budget analyst at NSWC in Dahlgren until retirement. For many years, Mimi was an active volunteer at Montfort Academy and St. Mary’s Church, where she has been a devoted member.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Felipe Benicio Sanchez Franceschini of Vega Baja, Puerto Rico; children David Felipe and Maria Victoria; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters Evelyn Hernandez and Judy Jakubowski; and numerous nieces, nephews and close extended family.

Mimi’s life will forever be cherished in the lives of her family and those whose lives she touched.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 21 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 22 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 25 in Quantico National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Catholic Charities or a charity of your choosing.
