Nelson Travis "Skeeter" Purks

Nelson Travis “Skeeter” Purks, 92, of Spotsylvania, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Mary Washington Hospital.

Mr. Purks served in the US Marine Corps and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.  He was a member of Sylvania Heights Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Janice Purks; daughter Kathy Beavon (Jesse); grandchildren Travis Beavon (Jessica Arnold) and Kyle Beavon (Olivia); and twin great-grandchildren, Andrew and Avery Beavon.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Annie Purks; his older brother, David; and his twin brother, Nathan.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 8 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.  A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, January 9 at the funeral home.  Interment will follow the service in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
