Nial Russell Watrus

Nial Russell Watrus, 72, of Fredericksburg, formerly of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023 at his home.

Nial was a helicopter pilot in the U.S. Army from 1973 to 1985. He was a motor coach driver for National Coach Works (Martz) from 2007 to 2021. Nial and his wife, Becky, enjoyed dancing, karaoke, playing cards, and simply being together. Nial loved his church family at Ferry Farm Baptist Church.

Survivors include his loving wife, Becky Watrus; children Michael Watrus of Enterprise, Alabama and CWO5 Steven Watrus (Sara) of Mandeville, Louisiana; grandchildren Jenna Saunders, Gavin Watrus, and Delaney Watrus; and siblings Carol Bing, Sherri Albrecht, Chuck Watrus, and Richard Watrus. He was preceded in death by his father, David Watrus; step-father Paul Stein; mother Viola Stein; and brother David Watrus, Jr.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at Ferry Farm Baptist Church. A reception will follow.
