Tribute

Nila M. Trigger, 81, of Spotsylvania County, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2023, at Johnston-Willis Hospital, Richmond. She was a devoted wife and homemaker for her husband of 62 years, Charles L. Trigger, Sr., and a loving mother to her two children, Charles L. Trigger, Jr., and Kelly Trigger Brooks. She also leaves behind five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Nila was a member of Spotswood Baptist Church. She was also a Life Member and Past President of the Spotsylvania Lions Club. She was a recipient of the Lions Clubs International Melvin Jones Fellowship Award during her 38 years of community service. Nila served as the First Lady of the Lions of Virginia District 24-A during Lion Year 1998-99 while her husband, Charles, served as the District Governor.

Nila was a dedicated military wife during her husband’s 20-year U.S. Air Force service career. She enjoyed traveling the world with him following his retirement. She was a lifelong Washington Redskins fan. Nila enjoyed feeding the many birds who visited her yard and growing beautiful flowers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 16 at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Quantico National Cemetery. Pastor Jim Stone will conduct the services.
