Norman Douglas “Bug” Brooks, Sr., 65, of Spotsylvania passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2019.
Mr. Brooks was the epitome of a "Firefighters Fireman.” He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, friend, Chief and Community Servant. His hunting buddies knew Mr. Brooks as “Skinny Tire.”
Survivors include his mother, Margaret Brooks; wife Janet Brooks; son Norman Brooks, Jr.; daughters Sue Carter (Jason), LaDonna Todd (Ray) Daffney Mitchell (Troy), Scarlett Martin, and Danielle Hall; grandchildren Bayleigh, Amanda, Nathan, Dustin, Jacob, Dylan, Victoria, and Seth; great-grandchildren Addy and Alayna; sister Brenda Purcell (Dicky); brothers Danny Brooks (Monica) and Jeff Brooks (Ginger); four nieces; and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Brooks.
The family will receive friends from noon to 3 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, February 25 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 26 at Spotswood Baptist Church.
Interment will follow in Travelers Rest Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Brooks will be carried to his final resting place by six Volunteer Firefighters and six Career firefighters to demonstrate the Unity he preached.
