Paul "Minnie" Leroy Whaling, Jr.

Paul “Minnie” Leroy Whaling, Jr., 88, of Stafford entered eternal rest on Thursday, August 11, 2022, quietly at his home surrounded by family and friends.

Minnie was a lifelong resident of Stafford County and lived his whole life in Brooke, Virginia. He was a farmer, sawmill worker, and in construction for many years. He had a talent for building homes. Minnie was always ready to lend a helping hand and helped build homes for many of his friends in the Brooke area. He grew up in an era where payment for these services were a good meal, cold beer, quick drink, and a handshake. He always seemed to know what was happening in the community even though he was mostly homebound. He always had a welcome for those stopping by his home and was full of stories from his childhood and later life. Minnie was generous, caring, and a well-respected individual in the community.

Survivors include his brother, Raymond E. Whaling (Audrey) and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Lillie Whaling, siblings Susie Sullivan (Joe), Eugene Whaling, Pearl Whaling, and Sylvia Whaling.

The family wishes to express their gratitude for the care given by his niece, Linda Kearns, and family friend Gary Marks, Jr. Also a special thank you to those stopping by with a meal, smile and a friendly word.

A service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, August 22, 2022 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Whaling Family Cemetery on Raven Road in Stafford, Virginia.
