Pauline F. Richardson

Pauline F. Richardson, 89, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at Mary Washington Hospital.

Pauline was born in Pulaski, Virginia in the middle of the Great Depression. She had five brothers and three sisters who shared in the daily struggles. Life was hard for their family, as so many others, which created life long bonds. Pauline was the last surviving member of her family and never stopped thinking about and caring for her siblings and their families.

Pauline met her future husband, Bill, as he was visiting Pulaski. They were together for 52 years and had three children who were raised to be Marine tough. Kenny, Kathy, and Robin benefited from Pauline’s wisdom and their family values. Pauline was a military wife and their service is as hard and demanding as the warriors they support.

Pauline and Bill brought the family to Virginia in 1970, and she went to work for the Federal Government, where she was a supervisor for 20 years. Pauline lived in Stafford while her children were in the area and continued to give them encouragement and tried to keep them as close as she could. Family was always her priority.

Eventually, they moved to their last home in Spotsylvania, where Pauline continued to commute to Ft. Belvoir until her retirement. After retirement, she focused on her seven grandchildren, which gave her much pleasure. Pauline had made a lot of friends in her life, and her and her neighbors supported each other for many years through whatever appeared. They were a very tightly knit group and had some fun along the way.

Survivors include two of her children, Kenny Richardson (Kathy) and Kathy Johnson (Larry); seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Robin. Pauline was devastated by Robin’s passing, as was the whole family. 

A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Quantico National Cemetery.
