Prudy Tarpey, 82, of Stafford passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.
She was predeceased by her loving and adoring husband, John. They met in Ireland, through her pen pal, on a post high school trip through Europe. Theirs was an unbinding love that will continue through eternity as they are reunited once again. She is also reunited with her favorite, and only, sister whom she loved dearly and spent many fun times with growing up in Minneapolis.
Together Prudy and John had four girls, Patty Tarpey, Siobhan Woodburn (John), Laureen Manclark (Jack), and Peggy Tarpey.
Prudy enjoyed spending time in her kitchen lovingly baking cookies for her grandchildren she cherished; John Woodburn III, Tara McGough, Cody Woodburn, Kristin McGough, and Tess McGough.
She beamed with pride upon the arrival of every great-grandchild, Roman Gray, Felix Passantino, Miles Wadlington, Julian Passantino, River Wadlington, John Woodburn IV, and most recently, Titan Wadlington.
Prudy was adored by basically anyone she met. She maintained friendships with childhood friends in Minneapolis to later years at Del Webb Falls Run. She spent many earlier years enjoying her love of painting, knitting, and playing the piano. Prudy was also fortunate to have traveled to many destinations around the world. She was a devout Catholic, converting after meeting John.
If you would like to pay your respects, all are welcome to attend the funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 13, 2022 (which would have been Prudy and John’s 61st wedding anniversary) at St. Mary Catholic Church. There will be a reception to follow. Interment will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local SPCA, in memory of our mom's love for animals.
