Robert “Bobby” Basso, 76, died peacefully Thursday, April 22, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was a drywall mechanic for over 30 years, the worked at Western Wood Products and later Mid Atlantic Foam, until a work accident in 2001 led to a leg amputation.
Bobby was one of the few single fathers to be awarded custody of his four daughters in the 1970’s. He later remarried and his devotion to his children put his dream of playing golf on hold until his two younger children were grown.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Lois; six children known as the BK6, Beth Hicks (Clint), Kim Lloyd (Alex), Chrissy Lackey (Dwain), Cathy Batton (Bryon), Rob Basso (Amber), and Charlene Basso; grandchildren: Dakota Hicks (Eve), Dustin Hicks, Denver Lackey, Gordon Batton, Mikayla Lackey, Ethan Batton, Jeremiah Lloyd, Isaiah Lloyd, Liliana Basso and Isabella Basso. Survivors also include five siblings: Mickey Basso, Sharon Basso, Darlene Shepherd, Rose Lyons and Johnny Basso. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Lillian Basso.
Bobby was a hardworking, God loving, simple man who touched many lives. The family will celebrate his life at a memorial service on May 15 at 1PM at Sylvania Heights Baptist Church, 150 Church Street, Fredericksburg, VA. Donations in Bobby’s memory may be made to Sylvania Heights Baptist Church.
