Robert Douglas "Big Bobby/Ol Man" Davis Sr., born June 24, 1951 in Alexandra passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 15, 2021, at his residence in Fredericksburg at the age of 69.
Big Bobby worked for the County for many years before he started Davis Disposal Trash Service in 1989 with his brother and sister-in-law, and retired in 2009. He also owned Haulin Azz Truckin, B&D Lawn Service, and Davis and Son Towing.
He enjoyed camping with his family at the Wilderness Presidential Resort where he spent over 20 years of summers making memories. In his younger age he enjoyed raccoon hunting and training dogs with his eldest son, Little Bobby. He spent many summer weekends at car shows with his youngest son Woody with their 69' Chevy pickup. He spent many late nights catfishing the Rappahannock River. He was an avid CB talker and was well known for his CB handle 243.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Catherine Davis; children Robert Davis Jr., Loretta Lucas, Nancy Blankenbaker, and William Davis; step-father Lacy Dixon; brothers Mickey Dixon and Gary Davis; sister Rita Davis; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Loretta Dixon and William Woodrow Davis; brothers Donald Ray Davis and Charles William Davis; two sisters Linda Farley and Joyce Davis; son-in-law Billy Lucas and Great Granddaughter Hattie Welch.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, April 19 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
