Ronald Vernon "Bud" Thompson

Ronald Vernon “Bud” Thompson, 85, of Fredericksburg passed away on July 28th, 2020 at Fredericksburg Health and Rehab.

Bud’s passion in life was ministry. For many years, he was involved in prison ministry and corresponded by letter to inmates all over the US. He loved writing letters - sharing the love of Jesus and encouragement. Bud was also very involved with his spouse’s ministry at Madonna House, where they have resided for over 20 years. His other hobbies included ceramics and flower arranging.

The loves of his life were Jesus, his precious Janet, and his dog, Prince.

He is survived by his wife, Reverend Janet Mae Thompson. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Ida Thompson.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 pm on Thursday, August 6, 2020 for a “come and go” reception at Madonna House, in the Multi-Purpose room located at 2600 Cowan Blvd Fredericksburg, VA 22401.

A service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Canaan’s Faith Church of God, located at 1470 Forbes Street, Fredericksburg, VA 22405.

COVID-19 guidelines will be followed. Please wear masks and keep appropriate distance from non-family members at both events. At the reception, no more than 5 people will be allowed in at a time.
