Ruth M. Gainer

Ruth M. Gainer, born August 28, 1932, one of 15 children, in Elkins, WV, passed peacefully at home on September 15, 2019 in Spotsylvania, VA. 

 Mrs. Gainer loved to do crafts, spend time with her family and traveling. She worked for WV Heart Association, and was the Director of the National Leukemia Society in PA.  Mrs. Gainer retired from Prudential Insurance.  

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Gainer Maple (Mike); grandchildren Robert Begie Maple (Laura) and Miki Lyn Jones (Michael); three great grandchildren Will, Abby, and Gavin; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Russie and Arthur Semones of Kerens, WV; husband Bob Gainer also of Kerens, WV; and siblings, John, Geneva, Janice Opal, William Arthur, Virginia, Rosalie, Carl, Roy, Charles Glenn, Dorothy Jean, Jim, JoAnn, Bob and Elmer Semones.

A service will be held for family and friends at 11 a.m. on October 5 at The Refuge Church located at the corner of old 219 North and Stalnaker Run Road in Elkins, WV. Refreshments will follow the service with interment in Maplewood Cemetery, Elkins, WV.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Rappahannock Choral Society, or Mary Washington Hospice.
