Scott “Craig” Sullivan

November 2, 1962 ~ July 30, 2022 (age 59) 59 Years Old

Tribute

Scott “Craig” Sullivan, 59, of Fredericksburg passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Mary Washington Hospital.  He dedicated his life to a career in law enforcement.  Initially working at the Corrections Department in the City of Fredericksburg, then transferring to the Fredericksburg Sheriff’s Office, he retired on October 30, 2015, as a Senior Deputy Sheriff.  Craig was known by his coworkers and friends as “Sully.”

He was predeceased by his father, Welford W. Sullivan, Jr., and his mother Phyllis B. Sullivan.  He will be laid to rest beside them.

Craig was a huge history buff, reading and watching everything he could to expand his understanding about the founding of our nation. He could tell you anything you wanted to know, particularly having a keen knowledge about wars through the centuries.  His father had been a veteran of World War II which led Craig to become an expert on all the actions of the allied and axis forces, the battles, and all the strategies of the major leaders of the “Greatest Generation.”

When not immersed in learning history, Craig would find relaxation in listening to his extensive collection of bluegrass music or watching his beloved Washington Redskins.

Craig was a fixture at the home of his cousin Donna Marino and her husband Tony.  He spent many Christmases, Thanksgivings, birthdays, and dinners at their home, joining in with extended family. With his loss, the holidays will not be the same, he will be sorely missed!

A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 8 at 10:00 at Oak Hill Cemetery, with Pastor Rick Ritchie officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Fredericksburg Rescue Squad, 510 William Street, Fredericksburg, VA 22401 or to the Fredericksburg Fire Department, 601 Princess Anne Street, Fredericksburg, VA 22401.
