Thomas Lach, 75, of Woodford died quietly in his home to be born again in the arms of Jesus Christ on Saturday, December 1, 2018.
Tom was born to Joseph and Genevieve Lach along with his siblings, Joseph, Conrad, and Basia. He was described by his mother-in-law as the rare “blue hen’s chick”, a man who had never met a stranger and was always willing to listen, lend a hand, and dole out hugs. He will continue to be known by those who knew and loved him best as a devout follower of Christ and a man who would go the ends of the earth to help those he loved. Tom was a generous giver, a friend to all, a loving father and husband, a proud grandfather, and a United States Marine.
Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Beverly Lach, whom he called his “beautiful bride” until the day he passed; his daughter, Tiffany with whom he shared his love of writing, Kung Fu movies, and Frank Sinatra; and his beloved grandchildren whose faces he never forgot and could always make him smile.
Known for practical jokes and an ever-present humor, Tom will be missed by his son-in-law, Bill, the chorus of nieces who were on the receiving end of both his jokes and his kindnesses, and the many, many people all over the US who happily called him “friend.”
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, December 8 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. Interment will be at Quantico National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 or Little Sisters of the Poor, 1503 Michaels Road, Henrico, VA 23229.
