Thomas Frasier Williams, Jr, 82, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on October 21, 2021.

Tom was born in Washington, D.C., to Dr. Thomas Frasier Williams and Rachel Honeycutt Williams. He was the grandson of Dr. and Mrs. Keller Bell Williams of Hartford, Alabama. He lived in Arlington, VA, and graduated from St. Stephen’s School in Alexandria. He graduated from Hampden-Sydney College and the University of Richmond School of Law. He practiced law for 49 years in Fredericksburg, and was a partner at Franklin, Williams and Cowan. Also, he was a founding director of Virginia Heartland Bank.

Tom dedicated his life to serving his community. From 1993-2005 he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Medicorp Health System, now called Mary Washington Healthcare. He led the Board during Mary Washington Hospital’s transition from a small local hospital to a regional healthcare system and was instrumental in the development of the current hospital’s building and extensive medical campus.

Tom volunteered with many community organizations. He was Campaign Chair for the Heart Fund in 1966. He was president of the Fredericksburg Jaycees winning the Distinguished Service Award in 1973. He was a member of the Fredericksburg Bar Association, serving as president for one year. He was President of the Fredericksburg Area Chamber of Commerce in 1979, Member of the Board of Governors, Real Property Section of the Virginia State Bar from 1993-1999 and served several terms on the Vestry at Trinity Episcopal Church, including as Senior Warden. He was chairman of the Salvation Army Advisory Board for many years, member of the Virginia Reel, and the Brotherhood of St. Andrew. Most recently, he was Secretary of the Board of Micah Ecumenical Ministries and President of his neighborhood Homeowners’ Association.

Tom loved playing tennis, golf and bridge with friends, snow skiing in the winter, and boating and fishing on Nomini Creek in Westmoreland County in the summer. He will be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor, generosity, and as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Archer Cassada Williams of Fredericksburg; daughter Carey Williams Getis and son-in-law Joel Getis of Leesburg; and son Keller Williams and daughter-in-law Emily Greenlaw Williams of Fredericksburg. Additional survivors include granddaughters Elizabeth Getis of New York City, Susanna Getis of Leesburg, Ella Williams of Fredericksburg; grandson Cabell Williams of Fredericksburg; and cousin Andrew McKinnon of Washington, D.C.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Fredericksburg. Masks are required.
