Tony Gale Oliver

February 1, 1957 ~ June 28, 2020 (age 63) 63 Years Old

Tribute

Tony Gale Oliver, 63, beloved husband of Nancie Ann Sullivan, proceeded to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 28, 2020, after a 14 month fight against cancer.

He was born February 1, 1957 in Princeton Kentucky and was a twenty year veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving from May 1976 to August 1996, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 2. After retirement, Tony worked for 23 years as an electrical engineer in the defense industry, working on a wide variety of projects for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the Department of Defense (DoD), and other government agencies.

An avid outdoorsman and conservationist, Tony was active in the Izaak Walton League and efforts to educate the public on conservation and wildlife preservation. As such, Tony was an avid hunter, archer, rifle, muzzleloader, and shot gunner. More importantly Tony was a kind, giving soul, and sportsman who would rather you harvest the game than him. Tony was also a staunch supporter of versatile hunting dogs and worked with training Deutsch Drahthaars at Chesapeake Chapter of North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association (NAVHDA).

Tony was a loving husband and father, a doting grandfather, a consummate Marine, knowledgeable outdoorsman, and one of the last true gentlemen.

Tony is survived by his wife Nancie Sullivan; his daughters, Angela Desmond, Jaclyn Seeger and Kelly Mcdonough; his son, Graham Sullivan; his granddaughters, Natalie Stevenson and  Madailein Mcdonough; his grandsons, Evan and Cole Desmond and Lachlan Sullivan; great-grandson Aden Stevenson; and his sister, Sharon Cayce.

Tony will be laid to rest with full military honors at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 7 in Quantico National Cemetery.

It is kindly asked that any remembrance be directed in the form of a donation to the Izaak Walton League at https://members.iwla.org/apps/#Donate.
