Wayne Maynard Brooks, 81, of Spotsylvania died on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Martha Jefferson Hospital. He was born July 26, 1937 to the late John Samuel Brooks and Essie Trainham Brooks.
Mr. Brooks was a member of Bethel Christian Church in Spotsylvania. He worked for many years at the FMC Plant and VA Power. He had a love for being outdoors, tending to his garden, admiring any vehicle that was a Ford, listening to bluegrass music and spending Sundays watching the Dallas Cowboys and Bill Elliott.
He is survived by his children, Robert Brooks, David Brooks and Laura Brooks, all of Spotsylvania; his grandchildren, Anna, James, Dillon, Holly, Ryan and Christopher; his great-grandchildren, Makayla, Evan, Lacey, Jackson and Amari; brother, Horace Brooks; sisters Ella Carlene Martin and Christine Barnes; and numerous nieces and nephews who will continue to hold him close to their hearts and in their memories.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Patricia Ann Brooks, four brothers and three sisters.
A service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 7 at Bethel Christian Church, 5542 Courthouse Road, Spotsylvania, VA 22551. The family will receive friends one hour prior at the church. Interment will follow the service at Bethel Christian Church Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel Christian Church Building Fund and mailed to the address previously listed.
