William Lawrence Shapleigh

William Lawrence “Larry” Shapleigh, 85, of Spotsylvania County passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Hughes Home.

Larry was a native of Buffalo, New York. He graduated from the University of Buffalo and obtained a master’s degree from Purdue University. Larry spent his career working as an electrical engineer for the United States Navy.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Patricia Shapleigh; children Andrew (Katherine) and Brian (Mary); grandchildren Hillary Caldwell, Hannah Shapleigh, and Kiera Shapleigh; great-grandchildren Jack Caldwell and Eleanor DeWitt; and sister Frances Michl.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Marian; brother Michael; and son Daniel.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life service at a later date. Details to follow.
