Tribute

William “Bill” E. Jackson, Jr., 86, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2020.

Mr. Jackson was born in Shipman, Va. to William E. Jackson, Sr. and Bertha Stevens. He attended the University of Virginia (UVA) on a baseball scholarship. He served in the United States Air Force and then began his career as a history teacher in Fairfax County; eventually becoming the Principal at Lee High School, Chantilly High School and Robinson Secondary. After retiring, he continued his support of education through his scholarship work with the Northern Virginia Athletic Directors, Administrators, and Coaches Association.

Bill served on the Board of Education at UVA and was a lifelong Wahoo fan attending UVA football games and making sure his family always had UVA shirts to wear. He was proud of his granddaughters for pursuing higher education and was honored to wear the college baseball caps they gave him. He was happy with the simple things in life and was always happy to have an ice cream cone in his hand.

Survivors include his wife, Melissa; sons Allen (Michelle) and David (Dana); daughter Jill (Gary); and granddaughters Kaylyn (Daniel), Elizabeth (Eric), Lindsey, Leslie and Melody.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Allen; and sisters Ann Moon, Maxine Christian and Shirley Coincon.
