Retired SFC Willis A. Adkins, Sr. 94, of Spotsylvania went to his heavenly home on November 28, 2021 at Bonview Rehabilitation & Healthcare of Richmond.
Mr. Adkins was born to the loving parents of George and Martha Adkins in Louisa, KY on August 2, 1927. He served in the Army for 30 years. He fought in World War II, the Korean War (twice), and the Vietnam War where he earned many honors and awards, including the Purple Heart.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Adkins; son James “Jimbo” Adkins; and grandson Gary Adkins, Jr.
Survivors include his two sons, Willis Adkins, Jr. (Terry) of Cape Coral, FL and Gary Adkins (Rita) of Port Charlotte, FL; three grandsons Joshua Adkins, John Helinski, and Donnie Adkins; three granddaughters Sherry Gossett, Katelyn Adkins, and Morgan Fields; four great-grandchildren Sydney Baker, Ella Gossett, Kristina, and Kendall Pearson
A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 14 at Covenant Funeral Service, Stafford. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Quantico National Cemetery.
