Wise W. Brown

Wise W. Brown, 91, of Stafford transitioned peacefully on Monday, March 20, 2023.

Wise was born June 23, 1931, in Stafford, VA to the late Wise and Ada Brown. He was educated in Stafford County Public Schools. Wise worked as a bartender and was also employed at Knowles Contracting, Southland (McLane) Distribution Center and ended his career at the Rappahannock Juvenile Detention Center.

All who knew Wise, knew him well. Everyone recognized the gray truck that he drove around town. Wise enjoyed baseball and watching his favorite team, the Baltimore Orioles. He also had a love of music, but what he enjoyed most was the outdoors whether it was yard work, driving around town, or running to numerous stores and talking to everyone along the way to get the latest news. Wise loved sitting under his carport waving at all the cars passing by. Sometimes he would sit outside for hours and hours at a time always saying, “I’m getting my Vitamin D.” Wise was loved by so many and will truly be missed.

Wise leaves to cherish and carry on his memories the love of his life and wife, Mary; devoted children Antoinette Carter (Shawn), Renee Greenhow (Mitchell), Felicia Purifoy of Fredericksburg, VA, and Dean Brown of Orlando, FL; six grandchildren Jeremy, Brandon, Alyssa, Jordan, Malik and Makala; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Wise was preceded in death by his parents, Wise and Ada Brown; three sisters Hattie Carter, Lucille Brown, and Ada Watson; and six brothers James, Warren, Andrew, Robert, David and Willie Brown.

A service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home chapel.
